THE CODE FACTORY 2008 YEAR-END SUMMARY
Code Factory S.L.
Terrassa (Barcelona), January 12, 2008
All of us at Code Factory wish you a very happy new year!
The end of 2008 and beginning of 2009 is very special for all of us as it marks Code Factory’s 10-year anniversary. We are proud to have been serving the needs of the blind and visually impaired community for the last decade and we are looking forward to the next 10 years which will certainly be as exciting and innovative as those that have passed.
2008 has been a great year for Code Factory and we would like to share with you our accomplishments for the past twelve months in terms of product releases, as well as important alliances and partnerships with AT companies, mainstream companies, mobile phone network operators, and national organizations for the blind.
Highlights of our work in 2008:
The release of Mobile Geo, our new accessible GPS software developed in partnership with Sendero Group.
Our partnership with HumanWare and Research In Motion (RIM) to work on the first screen reader for BlackBerry communication devices.
Code Factory’s receipt of the AFB Access Award.
The launch of Vodafone Speak in Spain, the first mobile screen reader that can be downloaded by SMS.
Mobile Geo recognised as one of the most innovative products of the year by the Consumer Electronics Show.
As always, our achievements in 2008 would not have been possible without your unwavering support, and so we’d like to thank you for, and share with you, the account of our successes this year.

European project
Code Factory is participating in the ENABLE project: ENABLE is a project of the European Union which will develop a user-centered enabling system, with services, for use by an elderly person in or out of the home, to mitigate the effects of any disability and to increase independence, autonomy, mobility, communications, care and safety. The platform includes a mobile phone, which is where, among other aspects of the project, the main contribution of Code Factory is concentrated. In 2008, a first prototype was successfully developed, with the focus on implementing the technologically challenging elements of the system. The prototype was presented at the yearly review meeting of the European Commission, and was an important milestone in the project. The project will continue through 2009.
